Help Habitat for Humanity of Hardin County by making a donation online

-The Hardin 500 is a group of individuals that invest $300 per year to Hardin County Habitat for Humanity.  These efforts are building a foundation for the future of our community.

-$300 per year divides out to $25 per month, which is less than one meal out for a family.  Plus, the donation is tax exempt.

-$25 per month is a small price to pay to help end poverty housing in Hardin County.

-500 contributors each year equates to 4 new homes.  Hardin Co. Habitat for Humanity has provided affordable housing for 39 families with interest-free mortgages since 1994.

Hardin County Habitat for Humanity (HCHFH) finances the construction of houses through fundraising activities described in the Sponsors section. An additional source of funding is house payments made by Partner Families.  The families send their house payments to Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) where the bookkeeping takes place as a free service of KHC.  KHC sends one check each month to HCHFH and this money is deposited into our operation account where it goes to finance the current build.  As a result, the families that are currently paying house payments are financing more than a quarter of each house that we build.

If we track a $1 donation, it goes first into the construction of a house.  That house is sold to a family who then sends that dollar back to habitat in the form of their house payment where it contributes to another house that is under construction.  Essentially, that dollar keeps coming back several times a year as it is reinvested in more and more house. This is a marvelous concept.  Your donation never stops giving.  The dollars that went into our first house in 1992 are still in the cycle and will be there with interest as long as this affiliate exists.

We follow the financial principles established by HFHI (Habitat for Humanity International).  The only non-construction costs we incur are the salary of our office manager, office supplies, and postage associated with our newsletter and thank you notes.  We are good stewards of the funds that our donors provide.
