Hardin County Habitat for Humanity

Habitat Homes

We build houses from the bottom up. We start with a vacant lot, dig the hole, lay the foundation, frame the house, roof it, and prepare the inside for occupancy. All of the labor is volunteer, except for the plumbing and electrical work, which must be done by licensed professionals. In those cases we pay for service, but appreciate donated professional services, whenever possible.

Our standard weekly work schedule is Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. On Saturdays we work from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Lunch is provided on Saturday by our hospitality team. When you come to work, wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. A cool day becomes a cold day after you have stood in the wind for a few hours. If you want more information about work call, please call (270) 766-4166 to talk to our construction foreman. We work rain or shine, with a few exceptions for the extremes. Don’t wait for someone to call. Just show up. You must be 16 years old to be on the site. We apologize to the younger folks, but our insurance will not cover you.

The current house is being constructed at the intersection of E. Poplar and Haycraft, Elizabthtown, KY.  See the VOLUNTEER  page for directions.

A Habitat House is a beautiful, well constructed, home.  If you need a decent place to live and you are willing to make a committment to working with us, let's work together to make take a step up with our "hand up."  It is a lot of work, but it can make a new life for you and your family.  Call 360-9900 for a homeowner's application.
